TUTTING TUTORIAL FOR BEGINNERS | THE 4 SQUARE EP 1

This Tutting tutorial was one of the first things I learned when I was trying to learn how to tut. Tutting was such a complicated and intricate dance style that it was very hard for me to grasp my ADD brain around. The possibilities were endless when I was trying to freestyle it for myself. However, with a few basic concepts that I learned from real poppers, I was able to learn tutting as an art form and simplify the movement.

In part 1 of this tutting tutorial I show you the basic concept of the 4 Square Technique.

I will break down the move of the 4 square into small bite size chunks so that your brain can digest it. Firstly, I split my surrounding area into 3 zones that I use to dance in so that I’m not all over the place or sloppy.

In this tutorial, I focus primarily on Zone 1 which is the closest area to the body that way you can understand the movement until we expand on the other concepts in future videos.

There are 4 squares or boxes in total that will make up this tutorial

TIPS:

  1. Keep fingers and palms as flat as possible
  2. Start slowly then work your way up to a faster pace
  3. Isolate your body so that your arms are the only thing moving
  4. Finally, drill the movements and have patients. Nothing amazing happens without a little hard work and dedication.

Are you excited for the next tutting tutorial video?!

Well, I am…

And hopefully I can bring my own perspective on how I was able to breakdown movements and learn them at a faster pace.

Keep on dancing!!!
